The Olds Motor Vehicle Company was founded back in 1897 by Ransom E. Olds. In 1901, the company began production of the Curved Dash Oldsmobile, which was a gas-powered, open-carriage vehicle that was priced at $650. The car become popular throughout the years, which is what inspired GM to eventually acquire the company in 1908. As the years passed, the brand continued to inspire different vehicles. Oldsmobile made history in 1940 by creating the first fully automatic transmission for mass-marketed vehicles. The brand was also responsible for the first turbocharged engine and front-wheel drive car produced in the United States during the 1960’s. Sales continued increasing through the 70s and 80s. Sales began to decline at a point, with GM announcing that they would no longer be producing the vehicles. The 2004 model was the last to be made.
